Live at York Museum Gardens: Elbow to open concert series

Oct 17, 2024Oct 17, 2024

Rock band Elbow have been confirmed as the opening headliner for a series of concerts in York next summer.

Live at York Museum Gardens will return in July 2025, after this year's inaugural event saw 12,000 fans enjoy performances by local band Shed Seven, as well as Jack Savoretti and Pete Doherty.

Manchester band Elbow will take to the stage on 3 July, supported by Ripon singer-songwriter Billie Marten and folk musicians Eliza Carthy & The Restitution, from Robin Hood’s Bay.

York Museums Trust said the previous event had brought "new audiences to the city and the gardens".

Head of operations Richard Saward said the income raised had been "invested back into our museums, galleries and collections".

Rachel Hill, project manager at promotor Futuresound Group, said it was “thrilled” to be working with York Museum Gardens for the second consecutive year.

She said: “Witnessing how incredibly important it is to the people of York, their support and how it was received is so heart-warming.

“Seeing the city come to light and witnessing the benefits of the economic impact was a wonderful thing.”

Fans who live in postcode areas YO1, YO24, YO31 and YO32 can book early during the ticket presale from 10:00 BST on Thursday, with general sale starting on Friday.
