Gillian Robertson's '12-to-6' elbow to opponent's butt leads to hilarious post-fight statement after UFC Vegas 100

UFC strawweight Gillian Robertson picked a unique target for one of the first ’12-to-6′ elbows thrown in the Octagon since the revisions of MMA’s unified rules.

Gillian Robertson earned her third consecutive win at UFC Vegas 100 against Luana Pinheiro. During her performance, Robertson took advantage of the revised MMA unified rules, including the lift of the ’12-to-6′ elbow ban.

Sitting just feet away was UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, whose lone career blemish was due to throwing the then-illegal elbows against Matt Hamill, resulting in a disqualification loss. After the lifted ban, Jones hopes he can get the loss overturned.

After one of Robertson’s cornermen yelled “Hit her with the Jon Jones!”, Robertson rained down ’12-to-6′ elbows on Pinheiro, opening up a nasty gash on her opponent’s face. Robertson also hit Pinheiro with a ’12-to-6′ elbow in the middle of her rear-end, prompting a chorus of laughs on social media.

In a recent Instagram post, Robertson addressed the ‘elephant in the room’ after her UFC Vegas 100 victory.

“Bet that’s the first time you saw the ’12-6′ to the asshole,” Robertson posted.

Fight fans had a field day in the comments on Robertson’s post.

“Well that’s my search history cursed forever, cheers,” one fan wrote.

“She let out a weird noise at the end of the round when you did that,” another said.

“I spit out my water [LAUGHS],” another commenter shared.

With the UFC Vegas 100 victory, Robertson retains her place in the strawweight Top 15 and is expected to earn another top name for her next fight as she approaches the title picture.

Robertson, a seven-year UFC veteran, has won five of her last six fights and is in peak form at this stage of her career. She’s earned recent wins over Michelle Waterson-Gomez, Polyana Viana, and Mariya Agapova on her current hot streak.

Robertson is the latest to utilize ’12-to-6′ elbow strikes following multiple revisions to MMA’s unified rules. In addition to the lifted elbow ban, MMA’s unified rules now provide more clarity as to what defines a ‘grounded opponent’ in a fight.

Before her current run, Robertson was the victim of controversial eye gouges against Priscila Cachoeira at UFC 269. Cachoeira called the eye gouges ‘unintentional’ and went on to lose the fight by first-round submission.

Robertson has bounced back in a big way after previous eye injuries and is a dangerous out in the UFC strawweight division. Her well-rounded skill set has given her opponents fits during her promotional tenure.

UFC fighters continue to experiment with ’12-to-6′ elbows after the lifted ban went into effect. In the meantime, fighters like Robertson might land the technique in questionable areas.
