A Rome man and woman were jailed Wednesday on felony warrants charging them with theft by conversion.
According to the warrants:
44-year-old Michael Wayne Dykes and 37-year-old Haley Laray Dykes sold a GMC Envoy belonging to someone else.
The vehicle was on their East Drive property and police had instructed the pair to have the vehicle towed at the owner's expense.
However, they opted to sell the Envoy, valued at $1,500, to a scrap yard for $300.
Michael Wayne Dykes was additionally charged with theft by deception for swindling the scrap yard.
A Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with theft by receiving stolen property.
According to the warrant:
39-year-old Joshua Edwin Powell was found in possession of two pieces of equipment valued at more than $34,000 back on May 30.
The John Deere mini excavator and trailer were reported stolen on May 24 by Home Depot on Hicks Drive in Rome.
A Birmingham, Alabama man is accused of trying to bring contraband into the Floyd County Prison in April of 2021.
According to the arrest warrant:
30-year-old Demarcus Marquis Tremble, while an inmate at the prison, conspired with another man to have marijuana, rolling papers, and Newport cigarettes left at his work detail at Floyd County Public Animal Welfare Services on North Avenue for him to pick up the next day.
The conversations occurred over recorded phone lines, emails, and video visitations at the prison.
Tremble is charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia's Controlled Substance Act, possession of items prohibited for inmates, and use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs.
A Cedar Bluff, Alabama man is facing drug trafficking charges in Floyd County.
According to jail records:
Police stopped a Toyota Tacoma driven by 60-year-old Timmy Frank Keith on Alabama Highway at Looney Road after the vehicle crossed over the center line.
A K9 alerted the officer to the presence of drugs.
Over an ounce of methamphetamine, less than an ounce of marijuana, a digital scale, and a glass smoking device were seized from the vehicle, along with half a beer and a mason jar of liquor.
In addition to trafficking, Keith is charged with possession of meth, possession with the intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, possession of marijuana, failure to maintain a lane, and open container.
A Garden Lakes man was arrested at his Elliot Drive residence Wednesday on charges of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of meth with the intent to distribute.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Stephen Charles Boyd had more than 28 grams of meth.
He is also charged with a probation violation.
A Piedmont, Alabama man was arrested at a convenience store on Turner McCall Boulevard in Rome Wednesday on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
27-year-old Tyler Mitchell Morgan was found with three baggies of suspected methamphetamine, packaged for resale, and a set of digital scales.
Morgan is charged with possession of meth, possession with the intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and three probation violations.
He is also charged with being a fugitive from justice for having an active warrant in another state.
Morgan is also being held for the Cherokee County, Alabama Sheriff's Office.
A 32-year-old Rome woman was arrested at the loop and Highway 411 on drug charges early Thursday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Kristi Jean Kelley was found in possession of methamphetamine.
She also had a warrant dating back to October 2021.
According to that warrant:
Kelley was in possession of a glass pipe with meth residue during a traffic stop on Highway 411 at Mathis Road.
She is charged with two counts of meth possession.
A 27-year-old Cave Spring man was arrested Wednesday following an incident at his Fincher Street home.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Richard Alan Castleman began knocking holes in the wall and broke a chair during an argument with a family member.
While speaking to Castleman, the officer could see a glass smoking device in plain sight.
When asked if he had any drugs, Castleman told the officer that he had over an ounce of marijuana in his room along with something that was labeled "The Crystals" which is believed to be a controlled substance.
Castleman is charged with disorderly conduct, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
